Why your Two-Way Business Radios Needs a License to Operate? Private Business Radios operate on either UHF or, VHF radio frequencies that is issued and co-ordinated by Ofcom. In order to transmit on these frequencies, you are required to have a license issued by Ofcom There are benefits of a licensed frequency such as:
> Larger range > Less interference from other users
These frequencies are allocated to businesses only, on a case-by-case basis. Once your licence has been issued with your own frequencies, DCRS Ltd can programme them into your radios, there is no limit to how many radios you have the frequencies put in to.
Why do you not need a license for Two-Way Consumer Radios (PMR446 Short Range Radios) PMR446 radios operate on 8 UHF frequencies. These frequencies have been allocated to a European service called PMR446 and there isn't a restriction on where you use the radios and they are programmed into the radios at time of manufacture.
How to apply for a Radio Licence DCRS Ltd can carry out licensing formalities for you, except for paying the fees; you will need to send this direct to Ofcom with your application
